I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a
"life."

YOU'VE BOUGHT A NICE HORSE-LETS GET STARTED THE RIGHT WAY, EH?

(please read)

*** PURCHASERS***- I charge $75.00 to haul a horse to the vet for you.

It is a 45 minute trip one way to the vet and 4 hours of my time away from the ranch.

If you prefer, you may set the appt up for a farm call with the vet at the time of scheduling.

DOWN PAYMENTS on horses are to be no less than $500.00,

are refunded only if horse fails a prepurchase exam or gets hurt b-4 final pmt is made-

Please please call me if Down payments do NOT get put in the mail as you expected.

Silence is not in your best interest if you are a serious purchaser.

This is a business...the horses are for sale.

The equine sales industry has changed considerably due to the internet

and the ease of professional hauling door to door these days.

I have been in business for quite a few years so

Many buyers (often returning clients) agree to purchase from me

after only a phone call and I have emailed them pictures.

Some require a video prior a purchase decision. But not always.

So equine sales can occur quite quickly-unlike the "old days"...

so please keep these facts in mind

as you consider purchasing a horse via the internet.

The transaction can occur quite quickly

and the horse can be sold in the blink of an eye and you may be disappointed.

Josie of Cowgirl Broker produces our amazing video's that have delighted many of our buyers!

Mail down pmt checks, and $40.00-$75.00 video fees to above name and address****

I don't do free videos such as utube. becuz I STILL have to hire my video person.

Any way u look at it...Its the cheapest method for you to determine whether this horse is the one for you.

When you call me to request a video I custom make these videos with your requested tasks displayed. So each one is unique and specifically geared towards the interested buyer who PAYS for the video showing what they want to see the horse do. That way if you have had a bad experience with a horse and want to be sure you don't get that kind of horse again...you can ask me to show you how the horse performs in the area you are concerned with. The fee has a range due to the fact that I might have to haul to the trail to video what you request. that means my video person must make the time to go with me....YOU are paying for her time.

The videos are quality and don't have the stop and go lurchy look that you find on the free services.

I want you to see my horses accurately represented in my videos....and this method is proven. The videos are beautiful

So don't ask if I will do a free video for you. I WON'T! Everyone pays to play. Horses are an expensive hobby...get used to it!

some truths worth considering:

1.) A handsome horse who's badly behaved will become a lot less attractive in about 15 min.

2.) The best way to appreciate how another person rides is to get on their horse.

3.) A more expensive horse doesn't make a better one.

4.) If you're looking for the perfect horse you will never own one.

5.) A solitary ride through the bush is more beneficial then six months with the best psychiatrist.

6.) Losing a horse can break your heart, but it will have been worth it.

7.) "If you can't imagine life without a horse... DON'T!"

Haul can usually be completed within 2 weeks of purchase.

SCOUT

10-12 yr arabian gelding

14.3h

what can I say but....NICE ARAB!

goes over all the indoor trail trial obsticles, goes out alone with a rider away from the barn without barn sour antics, jumps, goes english and western, you can post to this guys trot soooo easily-makes a nice rythm!  but you can western sit his trot easily too. he isnt bone jarring- comfortable! rather fearless for an arab.... he puts his head down and sniffs and goes over cautiously...but doesn't bolt out in fear....hangs in  there with the rider all the way over a new and scarey obsticle (no running to the side head up and mouth open in fear like some horses!)...then next time around is good to go!!! NO BUCK!!!!... I REPEAT...NO BUCK!!!!

jumps, lopes on cue and in the right lead. is happy to lope slow or will really get with it if the girls ask him to git up and GO! then calms right back down to a walk without any hype.

the only way I can flaw this guy at this point is that he has an upright arab headset thats gonna take us some gettin used to...but he is honest, kind, loves the girls to pieces already! goes about anywhere solo without much hesitation- he has more energy when solo...but NOT SCAREY...and is real quiet like a QH when in a group. he is really a nice horse! he would be great for a confident beginner since he is sooooo push button and congenial...but he is NOT a plodder. he is an all day git up and git somewhere kinda horse. ears forward and enjoys the trail and seeing whats up ahead. he is handy and can jump a large log quite smoothly and proficiently, and lope off solo nice and quiet and stands quiet when adjusting gear. not an alpha personality. cautious when need be but NOT afraidy cat. we ride him in a simple ol side pull and he likes it. ! I tried him in a bit...but he was all worried and amped up about it....it was an icky ride....so we put him back to bitless and he settled right back down and got all soft and doe eyed again.... so I would say....BITLESS IS BEST FOR THIS LITTLE GUY!

comparison: he is like Honey but more energy. IE: Honey hesitates to lope unless she feels the rider is able to handle it will trot a ways while she assess the riders ability to set balanced...and might not lope at all if she thinks they will become unseated...(shez kind of a baby setter in that way)....this guy doesnt...he lopes right off first request-ears forward...lets go! (one of the girls fell over his side and was clinging on for dear life and he simply floated sideways to a stop while she skootched back up topside and regained her composure- then off they went again!) Honey goes strait over anything ya point her at without a body ripple or hesitation first time...where as this guy will lower his head, hesitate, and look, and then go over cautiously and not quite as confident the first time on a strange obsticle like a tarp or PVC pipe in the arena. then next time he is good to go... but Scout is the same great ride on trail just like honey! same good energy!

He neck reins, flying lead changes, he is balanced both left and right, backs good and strait, has a bit of a sidepass both ways...I will develop that better, he goofs around abit b4 he actually steps to the side, loads like a champ, ties anywhere QUIET without pawing or moving around, good in stall, good in pasture, easy to catch, we use twine string around the neck to lead him in. good with dogs, no kick no spook at critters in the bushes(we have rambuncious puppies), can him mount from trailers or mounting block from either side-is patient and stands still. no saddling issues. picks up his feet for you. perfectly quiet for grooming even tho horses, dogs, people and equipment is going back and forth behind him. doesn't spook at a ringing cell phone while being ridden, no spook at velcro. and YES he did go over the blue tarp nicely...he was trembling and kept his nose down to it about knee high...but did not bolt or spook or rush over it...I just didn't get any pictures of it.

my opinion of Scout: your basic good honest riding horse, not lazy, not quite fearless.. but not scarey to ride either, no buck or ickies towards humans about him. not a bitter resentful horse in any way, he loves people and loves to be ridden and loved on..people have been a good experience for him...so he takes care of his rider to a point....just not a total babysitter. but definitely a solid ride and a good horse! sound and has a wide base and good hind end balance and steadiness and can do long distances on rugged trail without worry, and yet has enuf "pretty"skills to be a 4h horse for a confident advanced beginner and have asafe and fun experience while they learn and he gets better and better at his skills like side passing and haunch turns...and flying lead changes.

He was used in a "youth program" for the last 2 years. b4 that--I have no idea... but his arena skills suggest to him possibly being a 4-h horse!

alot of the "trail horses and beginner horses" I get in have no pretty skills. they just plod down the trail safely.... so when I get one like this that I can cue into a skilled maneuver...I know that they haven't only done trails!

but I will let you know more as we find out more about him!

DRIFTIN JESSEE

AQHA#773,627

FOALED 4/9/03

15h DUN TOBIANO GELDING

breeding: Double Drift, Collins Jessee, My Texas Dandy

THIS GELDING IS BRED REALLY WELL. HAS THAT FOUNDATION COWHORSE LOOK with a tiny little head and a big soft expressive eye! he has the smutty drizzle goin on between his eye and his nostril....STRIKING GELDING! with a hip that doesn't stop and a well muscled, old fashioned V'd up chest. He has soft gaites. NOT a spook basket, no buck or nasties. Owner AND previous trainer did a great job of desensitizing him! Just needs miles to become a real horse. He was broke out at 3 and trail rode some. then Debbie got busy with work and family and didnt ride all winter....so she did the right thing and sent him to Dawnita (the trainer) for 3 months to get him brushed up to ride last summer...and still didn't have the time to ride due to the demands her family and job place on her.

So Debbie has decided it's not fair to this nice young gelding to stand around and has decided to sell him to someone who will ride him and make him a best friend. and he wants to be. he has a nice personality and reaches his pretty face out into the alley for loves and to smell your breath...heza cutie pie thats for sure!

SO! Drifter is here for a 30 day tune up and to find a new home from here. so far the only thing I have found that drifter needs is some bridle work. the past trainer used a martingale so he fishes his nose out in front looking for it. I will take care of that b-4 he leaves (without a martingale). but he rides just fine otherwise. never offered to buck or do anything icky even tho the last time he was rode was June of 07.

He stands great for grooming and tacking up. great with his hooves. bathes clips like a pro, walks quiet beside you and stops when you stop and doesn't get impatient. has no mounting or cinching issues, can be a bit lazy in the arena where its boring and i have to git after him to keep him motivated, I, at first had to,  over and under him with the split reins (very gently-he never took much convincing) and he moves forward with a good attitude...has not balked or humped up or boogered off in anger or fear over being repremanded in this way.....

but outside the arena has a good work ethic and goes out nicely and well behaved with a good cadence to his walk. its just that the arena is boring and he liked going out on trail best....hez smart....I don't mind a horse with an opinion about what he likes and dislikes (after all....alllll of mine have opinions....I even answer them when they flick an ear at me over something THEY know I know that they don't like!  LOL!)....as long as they are respectful...and this one so far seems to be.

He is not a dangerous horse or scarey.... but becuz he is young the owner wants him placed with an intermediate rider that has some skills and can keep his training going forward...or at least has the awareness needed to keep this nice young horse accountable.

I'm impressed with him. and he sure graces my barn with his beauty! Heza fancy one!

UPDATE!!!:

DRIFTY HAS STOLEN MY HEART! he is absolutely a darling who tries hard to please and is FUN! he would be an excellent choice for Perelli games! he is interactive and warmhearted and interested in everything I ask of him. he gives me 100% and with the BEST attitude! I am having so much fun with this horse I will certainly hate to see him leave! hez "plucky!" He goes thru all the trail trial obsticles ...even the large blue tarp blind! he charges up onto the bridge at a lope or trot and stops and looks back at me in the saddle with the proudest look on his face...then we can charge off to another obsticle with the same great attitude...this week he learned to rope a dummy steer! fearless! and all  with the cutest look on his adorable face! this is a good one folks...don't let him get away!

UPDATE#2!!!!

i TOOK dRIFTY ON A TRAIL RIDE AND HE WAS BRILLIANT! NEVER SPOOKED AT A THING. TOOK THE LEAD, FOLLOWED, BLAZED TRAIL UNQUESTIONABLY! HE HAS A SMOOTH LONG SOFT WALK THAT I COULD SET ALL DAY! HE WAS INTERESTED IN EVERYTHING! GREAT TRAILER MANNERS, THE BEST I HAVE SEEN IN A HORSE SO YOUNG! SELF LOADS AND IS PATIENT IN AND OUT. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS NICE YOUNG HORSE! I RODE HIM IN A SIDE PULL. HE IS WONDERFUL WITHOUT A BIT.

PURE FUN!

BUT THE OWNER SAYS SELL! SO HIS PRICE HAS DROPPED!

price reduced! $4000.00

~!SOLD!~

SONNY!

13 YR UNREG. QH RANCH/TRAIL GELDING

15.1H

THIS IS A SEASONED AND HIGHLY SKILLED TRAIL AND HUNTING GELDING FOLKS!

HE IS ALSO PICTURED WITH HIS OWNER~MY BUDDY GEORGE ON HIM ON MY MAIN PAGE.

THESE PICTURES ARE WITH MY BUDDY KIM BORROWING HIM AT DIFFERENT TIMES.

THE ULTIMATE TRAIL GELDING FROM THE SAME TRAIL GROUP AS HUTCH IS FROM.~THESE 2 GELDINGS ARE AMAZING FOLKS!

Sonny started out as a guide horse on the Black Butte Stable dude string. After several years he was used as a dude horse, he was there 6 or 7 years. We bought Sonny 5 years ago and have used him for all kinds of events. He is a great pack string leader I have led up to 3 pack animals(mules and horses) with him. We have packed in the 3 sisters Wilderness, several pictures are from Reds Meadow, Park Meadow and Silver Marsh Horse Camp. Sonny has been to the Ochoco Mountains several times riding all over the hills bushwacking following the horse tracks during the annual Spring Wild Mustang count. We have made numerous day trips into the 3 Sisters riding into the high lakes. Sonny is a great pony horse to train young animals to lead with respect he will work with horses or mules. Sonny high lines, hobbles and has packed using a saddle pannier. does not spook at back packers, llamas, bikes, motorcycles, ATV's, blood from shot animals, tents, teepees, tarps, he has seen it all since he has been in consistent use his whole life. this is not a pasture ornament folks. this horse has worked his whole life and is a soldier. he is good at what he does and accepts life as it is thrown at him without an attitude! he rides in a snaffle or a hackamore or a curb, he doesn't care! he neck reins or direct reins- he doesn't care. he rides confidently on a loose rein without jigging or pulling for speed. this gelding reminds me of a little gelding named CJ that I sold to Nancy in Calif yeas ago. This is a good one if u want to trail ride safely. he has had a thousand deep wilderness (the scarey stuff that you would want a well trained confident horse under you) trail miles notched in his gunbelt and is proven true. George wasn't a very experienced horseman when he bought Sonny.... and Sonny has been good to him and George is now a very accomplished horseman becuz the experience that Sonny had 5 years ago encouraged George to trust in Sonnys skillls and  allowed him to do all the things he dreamed of doing as a horseman-safely! Now George is allowing someone else to learn and grow thru Sonny thru the sale of this truley amazing gelding!

***update: the workng cattle ranch in Sisters Oregon who owned, trained and used Sonny on their dude string and in the cattle operation confirmed their records...sonny was foaled in 1995 at a ranch in milton freewater. they bought him in 1998 s a 3 yr old.

PRICE REDUCED!: $3,000.00 FIRM

don't let this one get away people. I can pretty much guarantee that I won't get another one like this in for sale this year. these are hard to find! and don't come cheap...and George has priced him reasonable! He doesn't have to have all his $ up front since he will use Sonny until he moves in July...so make payments with 1/2 down! take him home when you get him paid off- or in July...which ever comes first!! pitch in for feed costs and George will be happy!

White Rocket Ride

APHA#: 760,898

aka "Sissy"

foaled: March 2003.

15.1H

NW Mountain Trail Trials Spring Challenge 2008. Sissy and I placed 6th in Novice horse overall in the Silverado arena. I made mistakes on the course and cost her points. not her fault. she performed well (8.0 -10's!) and I am more than pleased with her performance. I had a blast and she made it possible!

"Sister" is one of my favorite rides in the barn. she is smooth, responsive, willing to do most anything, soft in the bridle, easy lope, brave and confident, FUN! I ride her in a side-pull. My friends kids ride her as well as my young and old students. she packs them tolerantly and kind every time and provides a great experience for them!

They trust her.

Regretfully I must sell her I simply have too many to due justice to and its not fair to the others that need ridden too- and with the business I get overwhelmed with horses to ride and itsa crying shame to see her stand around when I know she is ready to go and can bring joy to someone. She has been sucha joy to me this summer and fall. I bought her early last spring for someone else and ended up keeping her and have not been disappointed.

I took her with only 60 days riding time and 4 mountain/desert trail rides to the Oregon Equestrian Center in Eugene in November 2007 to compete in the Indoor trail trials called NW Mountain Trail Championships! She was great! She Never been to town or seen anything like that and she handled herself like a pro for the entire 4 days!! We placed in every class we signed up for, with the best being 3rd place.

I was proud of us (since I had never done it either and only seen it once years ago on its maiden year!) and we had a fun time doing it!

She is a GREAT MARE. a true joy to own and ride. always solid and safe and is an EXCELLENT trail horse in every way.

she has NEVER refused an obsticle or water crossing. she just mosies on in like its no big deal even tho she is only 5!

I can pony with her, drag logs and panels and tarps, open gates while mounted, not marish, stands tied in a line of geldings and mares, loads in anything, can ride double and bareback in a halter, relaxed over bridges no matter how high, narrow or ugly they are. if I say its safe....she trusts me to go! she goes into mud holes, raging creeks, and confidently scrambles up steep banks and navigates large logs and brush without getting freaked out. easy to catch(runs to you in the field!), blanket, tack up, clip, bathe (kids bathe her!). good with dogs and small animals. doesn't mind the really little kids either. they can lead her out of her stall, unblanket her and turn her out and catch her up again too! she is patient and respectful of them.

She makes me proud every time!

Shez just been so darned easy to train and own!

 price reduced! $3,500.00

I've got a colt to start and I have taken Sissy as far as I can with the time I have had (and its sure been fun!) so am looking for her soul mate. she is more than ready to move on from here and be someones dream horse.

Her price reduction is only a reflection of my attempts to make her affordable for that person!

       Bay Area Equestrian Network

My specialty is Family-safe trail horses.

I do NOT buy fixer-uppers

cuz "the fix" never sticks

and I don't want unhappy buyers!

Nor would I intentionally put anyone at risk

by hiding a potentially dangerous habit

in which the horse was sold for in the first place!

Thats just plain ol' BAD BUSINESS

and a cheap shot in order to make a buck!

It's not me nor what I am "all about"

There's too many good horses for sale out there

without having to "sucker-punch" someone with a bad one.

I do not buy from auctions!

I choose horses that are naturally unflappable,

kind and patient, and have a soft eye,

willing attitude and good work ethic.

Breed, training and age come secondary to Disposition!

Over the years I have found that

the horses with the most training

aren't always the best choices for beginners,

since the inconsistencies and mistakes made by beginners

can irritate a finished horse

that has been made accountable thru rigorous training.

These horses often desire a skilled rider.

Their training makes them "quik minded"

therefore they can quickly develop intimidating habits

to"get rid" of their new irritating rider

in order to get a better one.

I prefer the plunk along "good ol' boy" types

with tons of tolerance.

People can really have fun on them~and learn alot!

and that's what the equine experience is all about!

Its not like "the good ol' days" when

most folks buying horses come from a family ranch

and have a working knowledge of horses....

More and more families are getting into horses

as a form of a family sport and hobby~

not knowing a darned thing about horses~

driven only by a fascination for horses

and a love for the great outdoors~

they have a TON to learn and it is my hope

to assist them to learn as safely as possible

and on the right kind of horses.

Even tho I know they will fall off, get stepped on,

get run into when a bird flies up at the wrong time,

or possibly get bucked off on a windy day

~and all sorts of other weird accidents~

that will befall them as part of the learning experience

(I know I've sure had all of the above and more!)

Having the right kind of horse

can sure limit the number and severity of the accidents!

All horses must meet my criteria, and pass my "tests"

b-4 I will offer them for sale thru my Ranch.

The most important 2 being:

They must be of the unflappable nature and tolerant.

I do my very best to accurately represent each horse,

answer buyer questions truthfully

and if I don't know....

I am willing to go "test" the horse and get back to you!

If they have an existing habit~

you will know about it if it shows up here!

But please remember: that horses often relate differently

in each new environment and with each person.

Buyers are expected to be responsible adults

and accept the risks and variables that horses often bring

into the equine experience.

They are "emotional beings" with thoughts of their own

and that's why the whole idea thrills and attracts

all of us "horse nutty folk" in the first place!

You must expect the unexpected with horses~

I don't do "trials"

since I have been stung repeatedly by having done so.

But if you get the horse home

and within the first 2 weeks its

obvious that a mismatch in personalities has occurred

I will gladly accept the horse back in trade for another

as long as the horse is not harmed in any way~

and I reserve the absolute right to make that determination!

It is buyers responsibility:

to get the horse back here in a timely fashion

and during "sale season", or my ability to place the horse

becomes slim and I will not be able to accomodate you.

I charge a flat $500.00 fee to provide this service

so you can move on

and get one that will make you happy

b-4 riding season is over!

I work hard to properly place the horse the first time

since this is such an emotionally traumatic process

for the horses....

I dislike mistakes for their sakes (as well as yours)

Buyers will have the previous owners information

if the owner is offering it. (Most do)

and opportunity to speak with them

prior final decision to purchase.

I do not make soundness guarantees.

However, I personally do a health exam

and timed flexions on all 4 legs

prior their arrival on my ranch.

I certainly would not want to be surprized

by a horse failing a pre-purchase exam-

~Lame horses don't sell~

~so I don't want to be stuck with one~

~And since I am not a vet~

buyers are welcome to have a prepurchase exam

performed by a licensed veterinarian

in order to be sure in their own mind.

The cost ranges from $125.00 to $175.00

California buyers must have a Coggins/health certificate

cost is:$45.00

My standard hauling fee to the vet is: $75.00

or you may request a farm call at the time the vet appt is schedled.

I have the best Vet in the valley:

Linn Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Ben Braat.

I would be happy to set up the apt for you~

or can suggest several vets in the area to assist you.

You will need to provide the Vet with a credit card for direct billing.

California buyers please keep in mind

that Oregon horses are often out on pasture

and not used the richer hays (alfalfa, oat, wheat etc.)

that are so available in California.

feeding Oregon horses these types of hay can make them sick.

So be prepared before your horse comes home

by purchasing suitable lower protein grass hay such as:

meadow grass or pasture blend grass hay

with a protein content of less than 10%

Here are several

Central California grass hay growers

that might be able to assist you:

Crump Ranch
major horse hay grower in
SE Oregon

and ship to Contra Costa County, & northern/central California.

Our speciality is grass hay (meadow, orchard, timothy, blends).

that will promote my business!
